The Lexmark C540 is a color laser printer perfect for small to mid-level workgroups that print anywhere below 35,000 pages each month. At 16.7×15.7×11.5 inches, this little machine can be placed nearly anywhere in an office, barely taking up any room. It is, however, a little heavy at 46.3 pounds. Though most offices only need black-and-white printing, there are some that do need color capabilities, and the Lexmark C540 is perfect for those users.

Its speeds are decent at 21 pages per minute for monochrome or color prints, and resolutions of 1200×1200 dpi are offered either way. Another great speedy features is the machine’s quick first-page-out times. It can print its first black-and-white document in as few as 12 seconds and its first color document in 13 seconds. The Lexmark C540 also has the ability to print on multiple media types, like labels, transparencies, cards and plain paper, meaning it is versatile in what it can add to your office.

Consumers that use the Lexmark C540 find that overall it is an excellent machine. However, there is one complaint that seems to consistently be across the board—the cost of printer toner. Other than that, though, users praise the machine for its wonderful output of printed pages and over and over again it is applauded for its easy setup and installation.

One thing a lot of people may not know, though, that would make owning the Lexmark C540 a lot more affordable is the fact that they could be buying remanufactured toner cartridges from third party vendors for a much more affordable price. These printer toners cost only a fraction of the price of the OEM versions, but they still maintain and create the same quality documents. These can be found from multiple places online, and using them will save you a ton of money overall.

The Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 is a professional at all of its functions. It can print, scan, copy and fax with ease, providing almost everything a small office or home office could need. Its 4.3 inch LCD screen makes using the Pro901 as simple as possible, and it offers both Wi-Fi and ethernet connectivity. Two-sided printing and a 50-page automatic document feeder make it even more attractive, and its speeds and quality aren’t bad either.

Only four Lexmark Pro901 ink cartridges are needed for printing—black, cyan, magenta and yellow. What’s the best thing about this inkjet model? Definitely its price of printer ink. Maintaining this unit is easy and inexpensive to do—ink cartridges cost less than other tanks on the market. This printer is known for its $5.99 ink, and the great thing about these tanks is that they last for 500 pages!

The printer has the ability to crank out 33 pages per minute and 30 pages per minute for black and color ink, respectively. The black Pinnacle Pro901 ink can reach resolutions of 2400×1200 dpi, and the color reaches even higher resolutions of 1200×4800 dpi while printing. The scanner reaches resolutions of 1200×4800 dpi, and the copier can produce 25 pages per minute with black ink, and 21 copies per minute with color printer ink. The fax machine can transmit faxes at speeds of 33.6 Kbps.

According to consumers, the Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 is impressive, to say the least. Buyers rave about the high quality of prints created, and users love how easy installation is. Not only is installation a piece of cake, but using the printer is easy to. The wireless networking is often praised, and users love the touch screen as well. The most impressive feature, according to users, is the low cost of Pinnacle Pro901 ink. The low cost of maintenance is due to inexpensive printer ink.

The Lexmark X363dn is a multifunction laser printer designed for the medium or large office environment. It has a large paper capacity, automatic document feeder and a number of well-designed functions for getting work done quickly and easily. Print speed is fast, at up to 35 pages per minute, with a first page out time of around 7 seconds. Lexmark X363dn toner is a bit on the expensive side, however.

The unit includes printing, copying and scanning functions, as well as a number of network scanning options that make it easy to send scanned documents to a variety of locations around the office. Standard input paper capacity is 300 pages but can be expanded to a maximum of 850 sheets. This makes it a great choice for an office expecting to grow in the future. It also includes automatic duplexing, or two-sided printing, which can be enabled as the default printing option to help reduce waste and reduce costs in the office.

Lexmark X363dn toner cartridges come in two sizes. The standard Lexmark X363dn toner cartridge has a capacity of 3,500 pages. High-yield Lexmark X363dn toner has a capacity of 9,000 pages for an even more economical cost per page. Saving money on printer toner will result in a lot of savings for any office. Although toners for this model are a little higher than most in its class, it is still fairly affordable to operate.

User reviews of the Lexmark X363dn are quite positive. Many users praise its affordable price and excellent feature set. One user particularly points out the convenience of its full duplex scanning feature. A few users the lack of a fax function.

Overall, the Lexmark X363dn has the capacity and speed to keep up with a high-volume office with an affordable price to cater to smaller environments. Fast speeds and excellent print quality make it a great value.

The Lexmark E120n is a monochrome laser printer designed for the home or small office user. Its compact size and very affordable price make it a great choice for a personal laser printer. Built-in networking is a nice bonus.

The E120n has a very compact footprint, making it very appealing for offices where space is tight. In fact, it is small enough to fit on most desks. The E120n includes a built-in ethernet port for connecting it to a network. It should be noted, however, that with its limited paper capacity and speeds, it will not be able to handle a large number of users, and it is certainly not built for high-volume printing. Therefore, it would be best suited to a home network or small office where it only needs to support a few users.

Paper capacity is in line with most personal printers. It holds 150 sheets in its main paper tray and 15 sheets in its multipurpose tray. A multipurpose tray is a rarity for personal lasers, and is a convenient feature, as it means users don’t have to empty the main tray before adding alternate media types or sizes. Users will want to examine their printing habits to ensure that the E120n’s small paper capacity won’t be a limiting factor, as it is only suitable for light-duty printing.

The Lexmark E120n toner cartridges have a capacity of 2,000 pages, though it comes with a starter cartridge with a capacity of only 500 sheets. The Lexmark E120n toner cartridges can be a bit difficult to replace, but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier.

Print speed is around 20 pages per minute, impressive for a personal laser. Print quality is mixed. Text is generally good, but loses clarity on small font sizes. Graphics quality is below average.

Overall, the Lexmark E120n is a good choice for a very small network in a light-duty office. Its affordable price and compact footprint offset its slightly disappointing print quality.

The Lexmark T650n is a monochrome laser printer designed for the small to medium office environment. It has extremely fast speeds and a variety of paper-handling options, as well as expandability.

The T650n is one of the fastest mono lasers on the market with a printing speed of up to 45 pages per minute. This speed, combined with its paper capacity of 350 sheets, gives it the ability to handle a large number of users on a network. Its paper capacity is split between a 250 sheet standard tray and a 100 sheet multipurpose tray. If that is not enough capacity, more trays can be added for a capacity of up to 4,000 pages total.

The T650n also supports a number of other upgrade options including a stapler finisher, an output stacker, and a five bin mailbox. These numerous upgrade possibilities make it one of the most versatile printers around, and give it the ability to grow with the needs of an expanding office.

Toner cartridges are available in either a 7,000 page capacity standard cartridge, or a whopping 25,000 page high-yield cartridge. This is just another way that the Lexmark T650n can be expanded for more users. Its monthly duty cycle has a maximum of 200,000 pages per month, so it is built to handle all you can throw at it.

With Lexmark’s reputation for lack of support for alternate operating systems, especially Mac and Linux, it is nice to see that the T650n includes support for most major operating systems. Among the operating systems supported are Windows, Mac, Linux, and even Novell.

Overall, the Lexmark T650n is a true workhorse of a laser printer. Its high capacities and fast speeds will be able to keep up with all but the largest offices or workgroups. Its expandability makes it a great choice for the growing office.

The Lexmark E260dn is a monochrome laser printer designed with the small or home office environment in mind. It has the capacity to handle a small workgroup of users, but larger office environments may find it restrictive. However, the printer does have the ability to expand. The printer’s design is relatively compact, but it is a little larger than most personal laser printers. Consequently, it may be difficult to fit into tighter spaces or to set it on a desk. At 29 pounds, it is heavier than most personal printers as well, but still fairly easily moved when necessary.

For a laser printer at its price point, the E260dn is extremely fast. It is capable of printing at a speed of around 35 pages per minute, far exceeding most of its competition. Users who value printing speed over other aspects of a printer will find a lot to like. The E260dn also includes some unexpected features for its price point, such as automatic duplexing, which allows users to print on both sides of a page, saving paper costs and allowing for more printing options.

The Lexmark E260dn is also expandable, allowing it to grow with the needs of an expanding office. There is an optional 250 sheet add-on tray or an optional 550 sheet add-on tray available for a maximum input capacity of 800 sheets.

Where the E260dn really falters is in print quality. Text quality is below average, with smaller fonts being undefined and difficult to read. As laser printers are geared toward producing sharp, readable text, this is a major stumbling block. Graphics quality, always a challenge for laser printers, is also below average, even for a laser printer, with more than a few artifacts and missing lines when printing.

Overall, the Lexmark E260dn is a well-designed, affordable laser printer with some nice extras and room for expansion. Unfortunately, its major downside is poor print quality, making it difficult to recommend, as high quality printing should be the first requirement on any buyer’s list of qualifications.

The Lexmark E350d is a monochrome laser printer designed for small or medium office use. It offers good print quality and fairly fast speeds.

The E350d features a built-in automatic duplexer, allowing for printing double-sided prints easily. It connects to a computer by USB and does not include a built-in ethernet port, though an ethernet port is available in the E350dn model. Given that it is designed mainly for small office use, lack of an ethernet port is not surprising. Network sharing is still possible with either a print server or using a PC as an intermediary for the printer.

The input tray holds 250 sheets, and the E350d also includes a single-sheet multipurpose slot for feeding other media one page at a time. The multipurpose slot allows for straight-path printing, which guards against paper jams by not bending the paper as it is fed through. The standard tray can accommodate up to legal size paper. If 250 sheets are not enough, an optional 550-sheet drawer can be added for a total capacity of 800 sheets. This allows the printer to expand to meet growing needs. It is worth noting, however, that the output tray has a capacity of 150 sheets, which may present a problem if printing extremely long documents is the aim.

The E350d includes a starter cartridge with a capacity of 1,500 sheets, but replacement cartridges are available with capacities of 3,500 or 9,000 pages. This allows the users to scale costs to meet their individual needs. The high-capacity cartridges offer the lowest cost per page, but also represent the highest upfront cost.

Print speed is quite fast, at around 23 pages per minute. Print quality is excellent, with very sharp text and decent graphics quality. As with most laser printers, the focus is on text printing, and everything else is mainly secondary.

Overall, the E350d is an impressive printer for its price and class. Its print quality and speed are good selling points. The starter cartridge is a bit of a disappointment, but makes the upfront cost of the printer more affordable.

The Lexmark C750 color laser printer is designed for medium to large work groups and features a wide array of additional options; the printer is priced around $1000.00, but higher end models like the C750fn could be as high as $6000.00.

Supplying processing power is a 350 MHz processor paired with 64 MB of RAM which is expandable to 512 MB. An optional hard drive of 5 GB allows for the storage of fonts and secure documents; auto duplexing is also available for an additional fee. The Lexmark C750 comes equipped with a 600 sheet input capacity expandable to 3,100 sheets which is a bit more than similarly priced printers, and can support up to 90 lb media weights as well as card stock, transparencies, envelopes, folio, and the standard legal and letter sizes. Finishing options include a 5 bin mailbox, a 650 sheet output expander, and a combination stapler, hole punch and job offset additions. USB and bidirectional ports are standard on the base model and can have internal and external 10/100BaseTX Ethernet ports added; some of these features are included on the higher end models like the C750n and C750dtn.

Automatic color correction accompanies the 20 page per minute color and monochrome printing speeds enabling the printer to have less user intervention. The C750 from Lexmark has a 60,000 page monthly duty cycle and can support high yield toner cartridges, which is pretty typical of this class of printers. The image enhancement 2400IQ helps the somewhat lacking print quality for images and color prints; the color prints are less than desirable when compared to similarly priced printers. Text production is acceptable, but has a very dark color to it, and will work well for those just needing monochrome prints with a small amount of color for dramatic effects. Costs per printed pages range from $.03 to $.12 at 5% coverage using the standard toner cartridges.

The Lexmark C750 has a wealth of expandability options and acceptable print quality; however, the color printing and print speeds fall a little short of the competition.

The Lexmark C720 color laser printer is an image ready printer with utilities and image enhancements standard; the printer is priced around $450.00.

Sporting an RM5231 266 MHz processor coupled with 32 MB of standard memory, higher end models come with 64 MB, the Lexmark C720 delivers specifications that help with printing color images. Installed on the printers in the series are parallel and USB ports on the base model while the C720n and dn models come equipped with networking via Ethernet ports. A maximum of 384 MB of memory is allowed on the C720. In addition some models have a Token-Ring connection by way of DB9 or RJ45 ports. Optional additions include a hard disk of 8 GB maximum size and auto dulplexing. One feature on the Lexmark C720, OptraImage, allows for the Lexmark C720 printer to be used as a printer or copier over the network. These are rated as desktop models but weighing in at 86 pounds you will need a very sturdy desk. Media handling is on par with comparable printers while the supported operating systems specification is far more impressive than other in class printers.

Color documents are excellent competing with high end inkjet printers with ease. The 2400 IQ image enhancement software is the brains behind the operation calibrating and adjusting for small variances in color and paper quality. Print speeds for color documents are only at 6 pages per minute but it is worth the wait; cost per printed color pages is average at $.12 at about 10% coverage. Text is presented well even at fine font sizes and cost around $.02 per print. While the maximum paper input is lower than some, comes in at 750 sheets, the monthly duty cycle is well suited for a small or medium work group at 45,000 pages. In addition to the image enhancements a simple to use desktop interface makes the LCD screen on the printer seem archaic.

The Lexmark C720 prints in full color with surprising precision based on its price; however, you will need to pay extra for duplexing and deal with slower printing speeds for color documents.

The Lexmark C920 is an LED color printer built for work groups with heavy printing demands; the device is priced around $2,400.00, the base model, which is in line with its specifications.

The LED printing technology allows for improved speed of the first printed document and is equipped with a 1 GHz processor and a maximum of 1 GB of RAM. Although the processor and memory are competitive with other printers the media handling falls short only supporting Letter A, Legal, and Executive sizes which could hinder a work group’s printing capabilities. Networking is not standard and will need to be added via the only expansion slot or spend a little more for an external print server; a USB and parallel are installed on all models. Lexmark redeems itself as the C920 supports Mac, Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating platforms increasing usability across platforms. Finishing options include a high capacity feeder, printer cabinets and staple/punch finishers.

Lexmark has equipped the C920 with 2400 dpi via image enhancement technologies and an automatic color correction which provides excellent image and graphics in full color and at 30 pages per minute in color although similarly priced printers are faster. Monochrome documents are printed a bit faster at 36 pages per minute with good clarity which is comparable to other printers in its class. The included desktop interface software will enable tracking of print statistics, usage by individual users and alerts sent during a print job to anyone on the network. This is a much better choice than the LCD display on the printer which can be cumbersome and hard to navigate. The Lexmark C920 supports a monthly yield of 200,000 pages making it perfect for a large and busy workgroup. Another downside is that Lexmark toners are very expensive so third party toners should be used to reduce the cost per color page down from $.16.

Lexmark has given the C920 great image production, cross platform capabilities and large monthly duty cycles but consumables are priced higher than its competitors.
