Dell 1320c Laser Printer

MIDAS300 Dell 1320c Laser Printer

The Dell 1320c Laser Printer is a color laser printer designed for the personal or small office user.  It is very affordably-price and offers good print quality and speed, but for a little more money, competing products are significantly better.

Although the 1320c is relatively compact, its square black design seems a little imposing.  It feels bigger than it actually is, despite measuring only 14.8 inches by 15.6 inches by 16.6 inches (HWD) and weighing only 40 pounds.  It is a bit too big to share a desk with, so personal users will need to ensure they have the space for it.  Small offices will find it compact, and it will fit in most tight spaces when necessary.  The control panel is straightforward and simple, with only a continue button and a cancel button.  No screen is included, but a series of lights give the user information about problems and errors.  This is an adequate system, but it may prove difficult in a busy office environment as the cryptic lights will require the manual to decipher, which may not be readily available in some offices.

Toner cartridges are easily accessed and replaced from the front panel.  The capacities for the Dell 1320c seem a bit small, even for a personal laser.  Standard cartridges have a capacity of 1,000 pages, while high-yield cartridges have a capacity of 2,000 pages.  The printer’s monthly duty cycle is 35,000 pages, which means a user would have gone through over 17 cartridges in one month to reach that amount.  This seems a little unbalanced.

MIDASLONG Dell 1320c Laser Printer

Print speed is decent, at around 12 pages per minute black and 8 pages per minute for color.  Print quality is good, with text quality as the highlight.  Color print quality is alright for interoffice printing, but not high-quality enough to give to a client.

Overall, the Dell 1320c is a good printer at a very affordable price.  For a little more money, however, buyers can get a much better printer from competing manufacturers.
