Samsung Toner Recycling Program
By CarlA • Dec 29th, 2008 • Category: SamsungThe Samsung Takeback and Recycle program (STAR) was started in 2005 and aims to reduce the amount of waste disposed of into landfills. This is an award winning program that encompasses business clients as well as general consumers. At its core the program recycles all of the usable contents and components and treats those that cannot so that they have a minimal environmental impact. This keeps down waste and provides other companies with resources for recycled products. Samsung is working on reusing all of the components to produce new toner cartridges from the old.
It is estimated that more than half of the toner cartridges used in Europe and the United States are not recycled. The Samsung program is meant to be easy and simple for customers and thus encourage the end user to recycle. This service from Samsung is the last stage of the life of a toner cartridge and it ensures the proper disposal of their products. It limits the amount of material being added to landfills and shows Samsung’s commitment to being a responsible business.
This program comes at no cost to the consumer or business and is quite simple to participate in. Samsung toner cartridges are shipped with pre-addressed FedEx labels to return the product to Samsung. After purchasing their new cartridge a customer need only place the old cartridge in the new box and place the label on it. The box may be picked up by FedEx or dropped off at one of their multiple locations across the country. The boxes can be taken to any FedEx Kinko’s locations and they will take care of the rest. Shipping labels may also be printed from the Samsung website and the same free pick up and shipping options apply as well.
